1. Mix up some casting powder with water in an old yoghurt pot so it’s the consistency of cream but still pourable. Spoon this mixture into the letters you need in the casting mould and leave them to dry and go hard.
  2. Open the back of the frame and remove the acetate rectangle. Use two colours of porcelain paint pen to paint the inside edge of the frame. Let this dry and put the frame back together.
  3. Draw some stars on the right hand side of the frame, outline them with a different colour and add a border of dots around the aperture. (pic a)
  4. Remove the letters from the mould and colour them with porcelain paint pens. You may find it easier to dot the paint on as the plaster with be quite absorbent. (pic b)
  5. Add some spots of a different colour to some of the letters to make them stand out more. You could also make curly spotted lines coming out from the stars on the frame to make it more interesting. (pic c)
  6. Use PVA to glue the letters to the frame in the correct order. Use the photo as a guide to fit them all on in the best way. Let the glue dry and add a great picture of Dad. (pic d)
