1. Cut a 4cm diameter circle from pink self-adhesive felt and stick a pair of wiggle-eyes in the middle. Use white sticky felt to make the beard and eyebrows and fix these in place on the face. (pic a)
  2. Stick the face to the front of the walking character. Cut two small rectangles of red felt and add a thin strip of white to one short side of each piece to form the cuff. Fix these over the arms of the figure using double-sided tape, cutting a slit in one sleeve to fit over the winder. (pic b)
  3. Cut two jacket fronts and one back piece from red felt. Make sure they are short enough not to interfere with the walking feet of the figure, and cut away curves to fit snugly around the arms.
  4. Fix the jacket pieces in place with double-sided tape and add an edging of white sticky felt all around the jacket. Stick rectangles of black sticky felt over the feet to make shoes. (pic c)
  5. Cut a scalloped edge in a 3cm by 11cm rectangle of white self-adhesive felt. Wrap this around the head to make hair and cut a smaller scalloped rectangle to form the fringe.
  6. Cut a semi-circle of red felt and edge with white, leaving some of the sticky background overlapping the edge. Use double-sided tape to fix this into a cone shape and put on the head, holding the hat in place with the sticky overlap. (pic d)
