- Cut two half pear shapes and an oval from brown felt (see template). Stitch the two half pears together along the curved edge to make the top of the body. (pic a)
- Sew the oval piece to the bottom straight edges of the body leaving a small gap at the back end. Stuff the body with fibre stuffing until it is plump, then stitch the gap at the back together with ladder stitch. (pic b)
- Cut two brown felt dormouse ears and gather the bottom edge of each a little before sewing them onto the head.
- For the tail, cut a thin strip of brown felt and stitch one end of this to the back of the dormouse so the tip sticks up. (pic c)
- Use black thread to sew eyes and a nose onto the face of the dormouse. Make a knot in a length of thread about 3cm from the end.
- Pass the thread through the tip of the nose and knot again at the other side. Trim the thread and repeat twice more to make whiskers. (pic d)
