- Cut a 9cm square of red felt and draw your greeting on it with a white pen or pencil. (pic a)
- Using three strands of coloured embroidery thread sew over the letters using cross-stitch and then outline them in a different colour with a small running stitch. Use back-stitch to go over the leaf and swirly parts of the design. (pic b)
- Use pattern scissors to cut several 1cm wide strips of green felt. Stick these around the lip of the base part of the coaster with PVA glue and leave to dry. (pic c)
- Cut a 12cm square of yellow felt and fix to the back of the base of the coaster with double-sided tape around the edges.
- Stick more double-sided tape to the raised part of the base of the coaster and fix the embroidered felt on to this. (pic d)
- Paint PVA glue onto the raised lip of the front part of the coaster and place over the design. Hold the coaster front in position with a few clothes pegs until the glue dries clear.
