- Use a soft pencil to draw a Star of David design in the middle of a wooden coaster. The star is made up of one equilateral triangle overlapping another. Rub out some of the lines that cross so that the two triangles are interlinked. (pic a)
- Use a gold pearlised porcelain pen to carefully trace over the pencil lines. Work around the design drawing short sections of line at a time, and rotating the coaster as you work so your hand doesn’t smudge the paint. (pic b)
- Once the gold paint has dried, fill in the background of the Star with white pearlised paint. Get plenty of paint onto the surface by pressing the nib down to make a puddle and then spreading out with the pen. (pic c)
- Complete the design by colouring in the Star with a pearlised blue pen. Allow the first coat of paint to dry before adding another to make the colour really strong. When the coaster has dried, cover with varnish to protect the coaster. (pic d)
