- Paint the roof and base of a wooden birdhouse with orange acrylic paint, then paint the walls yellow. When dry, paint green grass and flower stems up the sides and add tiny painted flowers. (pic a)
- Cut a yellow pipe cleaner down to 12cm long and bend the first cm over to make a triangle.
- Find the middle of a small pom-pom and thread the other end of the pipe cleaner through it. Push the pom-pom up the wire until the triangle tucks into it and it looks like a beak. (pic b)
- Thread a large pom-pom onto the pipe cleaner leaving enough gap between the two to make a neck. Bend the end of the pipe cleaner in zigzags to make two legs. (pic c)
- Trim some contrasting feathers down to size to make wings and a fluffy tail for the bird. Dip the ends into PVA glue and push deep into the pom-pom to hold in place.
- When the feathers are dry glue the birds feet either side of the ridge of the birdhouse roof. Make another smaller bird to sit at the bottom of the house. (pic d)
