1. Paint a birdhouse with orange acrylic paint for the roof and base, and yellow paint for the  walls. When dry paint green  grass and flower stems up the  sides and add tiny painted flowers. (pic a)
  2. Cut a yellow pipecleaner down to 12cm long and bend the first cm over to make a triangle.
  3. Find the middle of a small pompom and thread the other end of the pipecleaner through  it. Push the pompom up the  wire until the triangle tucks into  it and looks like a beak. (pic b)
  4. Thread a large pompom onto the pipecleaner leaving enough gap between the two to  make a neck. Bend the end of  the pipecleaner in zigzags to  make two legs. (pic c)
  5. Trim some contrasting feathers down to size to make wings and a fluffy tail for the bird. Dip  the ends into pva and push  deep into the pompom to hold  in place.
  6. When the feathers are dry glue the birds feet either side of the ridge of the birdhouse roof.  Make another smaller bird to sit  at the bottom of the house. (pic d)
