- Fold a sheet of A4 yellow card in half and draw a large circle then a small circle to make a chick shape (you could use a plate as a guide). The diameter here is approximately 14cm.
- Keeping the card folded, cut out the chick shape. (pic a)
- Attach two small feathers inside the ‘head’ part of the card to form the ‘crest’ and three longer feathers inside the other end to form the ‘tail’ using glue dots or PVA glue. (pic b)
- Cut out a diamond shape for the beak and two wing shapes from self-adhesive orange foam.
- Stick the orange wing shapes to either side of the yellow card body. Fold the orange diamond shape making a triangle ‘beak’ and use glue dots or PVA glue to fix the beak to the inside of the head. (pic c)
- To finish off the chick attach wiggle-eyes to either side of the head then let it rock! (pic d)

You can use paper plates for this, painted yellow and folded in half. I also made Easter bunnies with them with a few variations, e.g. big floppy pink ears, white cotton wool tail, pink pom-pom nose, wiggle-eyes, etc.

Hi Sandra,
That’s a really rockin’ idea! You could even try using our Coloured Paper Plates (product code EV126, or try this link http://www.bakerross.co.uk/product-Coloured-Paper-Plates-Value-Pack-ev126.htm ). They come in two sizes, so you can make baby ones for smaller children!
