- Cut a 25cm square of cotton fabric and crease into three both ways to make a grid pattern. Cut a flower from card that will fit into each ‘box’.
- Draw around the flower shape into each corner and the centre, then outline the designs and colour in with fabric pens or paint. Colour in the petals, blending the colours together while the paint is still wet. Leave to dry then get an adult to iron the fabric on the wrong side to set the paint. (pic a)
- Cut another square of material and place it over the design. Sew together along three sides and turn the pouch right side out. Cut three pieces of felt the same size as the pouch and slip inside before over-sewing the final edge. (pic b)
- Use embroidery thread to sew along the grid-lines with running stitch, going through all the layers of fabric. Take a different colour thread and stitch around the flowers. (pic c)
- Finish by sewing a loop of ribbon and a neat bow to one corner.
