1. Cover the curved part of a polystyrene oval blank (or cut a ball in half) with two coats of black acrylic paint and leave to dry. (pic a)
  2. Draw around the polystyrene shape onto the backing paper of a piece of black sticky foam. Sketch in half circles for all four legs and cut out.
  3. Cut four clawed feet from brown foam and fix these onto each tab on the hedgehog base and stick the base on to the painted shape. (pic b)
  4. Cut some strips of self-adhesive brown foam 1.5cm wide. Use scissors to snip one edge into a fringe. (pic c)
  5. Remove the backing sheet from the fringe and lay over the back end of the shape. Cut more strips in the same way and add them in layers towards the head. (pic d)
  6. Cut a mask-shaped piece of brown sticky foam for the head and put wiggle-eyes in place. Cut a small black spot of foam for the nose.
