1. Take a piece of A5 white card and draw a 2.5cm wide border all around it. Use a pencil to sketch a picture of Osiris and when you are happy with the design go over it in black pen before rubbing out the pencil lines. (pic a)
  2. Tear some white crepe paper into thin strips between 1cm and 3cm wide. Mix a little yellow acrylic paint with some slightly watered down PVA glue and paste this mixture over your picture.
  3. Lay the strips of paper length-ways down the picture and smooth down. Paint on some more glue mix then lay strips of paper across the picture. Smooth down. (pic b)
  4. Let the glue dry and tear away the paper that overlaps the card to leave a rough edge. (pic c)
  5. Use acrylic paints to carefully colour in the design. Egyptian painting traditionally has a lot of red, white, green, yellow and black: Osiris himself has green skin! (pic d)
  6. Mask out the painting with a smaller piece of card (10cm by 16cm) and spray the edge of the papyrus with gold paint. When dry, use black and red acrylic to decorate the border.
