1. Cut a pipe cleaner into three. Take the first piece and bend the top into a loop to make a head. Fold the other pieces in half and twist onto the stem to make limbs.
  2. Fold the limbs in half again so there are no sharp ends and twist together to secure. This will ensure the legs don’t poke through your pet’s body. (pic a)
  3. Place the pipe cleaner frame onto a piece of paper and draw around to make a thick body shape. Use this as a template to cut two pieces of brown felt. Sandwich the pipe cleaner frame between the two body pieces and check the limbs will fit inside the felt outline.
  4. Cut a ’splodge’ shape from black felt with a tail piece on one end and glue this to the back of one of the body pieces. (pic b)
  5. Place the pipe cleaner frame between the felt pieces. (pic c)
  6. Use a needle and thread to sew all the way around the shapes, tucking small pieces of fibre stuffing into the main body and head to give it some padding. (pic d)
  7. Glue on ears, nose and a collar from felt and add a pair of small wiggle-eyes. Line a small oval box with coloured felt for a home and pop into your pocket.
