1. Cut a piece of card 20cm by 10.5cm and fold in half length-ways. Score the long sides 6mm in from the edge.
  2. Draw lines from the fold to the edge score, 1cm apart. Cut down the lines through both thicknesses of the card to the score. (pic a)
  3. Cut a different coloured base card 21cm by 7cm and fix double sided tape down both long edges. Stick one side of the slotted card to the tape, leaving 1cm overlap at the end of the base card. (pic b)
  4. Bend the slotted card on the middle fold and fix the other side to the base card. Put a piece of double sided tape on the 1cm left on the base card and bend round into a lantern. (pic c)
  5. Cut lots of large and small eight petalled flowers in different colours. Layer them together by gluing in the centre and bend up the petals of the top layers.
  6. Glue the flowers to the lantern with PVA. Make two holes in the top edge of the lantern and thread gold cord through to hang. (pic d)
