1. To make the cute chick, cut a rectangle of yellow felt that is big enough to wrap round your finger with a centimetre to spare.
  2. Cut a curved ‘W’ into one short end so the sides form a round head shape when folded back.
  3. Use embroidery thread to sew on small round black felt eyes and an orange beak shape. (pic a)
  4. Cut out two semi-circle wing shapes with feathers cut into the straight side. Sew the curved outer edges onto the body of the puppet. (pic b)
  5. Use small scissors to cut out three little flowers from brightly coloured felt and stitch to the body with tiny crosses. (pic c)
  6. Fold the sides of the puppet to the middle and stitch along the top curve with running stitch. You can cut out a small orange cockscomb and attach to the head at this point. Stitch up the back seam and pop on your finger. (pic d)
