Mix up some pink acrylic paint and give a heart shaped box and it’s lid two coats of paint. (pic a)

Cut a 1cm wide strip of red self-adhesive foam with zigzag scissors and fix around the box lid. Cut a 3mm strip of white foam with straight scissors and stick over the top. (pic b)

Cut a piece of pink self-adhesive foam, 6cm x 2cm, and snip a fine fringe 1.5cm into one side. Fix this in a circle on the top of the box lid.

Cut a piece of non-sticky red foam the same size, cut the same sort of fringe and wrap around the end of a red pipe cleaner, tying in place with strong thread.

Cut a flower shape from pink foam then make a small cross in the middle and push up the pipe cleaner onto the base of the fringing. (pic c)

Make some more flowers. Trim the stems to 3cm and push them all through the centre of a small circle of foam. Bend the ends of the stems flat and glue the bouquet to the top of the box lid. (pic d)

Paint the insides and top edge of each drawer with a dark coloured paint that matches a colour of foam you are using. (pic a)

Paint the outside of the chest with two or three different contrasting colours then decorate with pearlised sparkle pens. (pic b)

Cut some strips of self-adhesive foam the same colour as the inside of the drawers and about 7mm wide.

Stick the strips inside the drawers so that they form a ledge around the inside of the base. (pic c)

Measure the dimensions of the inside of the drawers and cut three rectangles of foam the same colour as the sticky strips, leaving a semicircular tab on the long edge of each piece.

Write your messages on small pieces of paper and fold them up. Place them in the bottom of the drawer and fit the foam fake drawer bottom on top of the shelf inside. (pic d)

Cut a 20cm long piece of white elastic and thread nine purple flower beads onto it. (pic a)

Thread a split metal ring onto the elastic and then tie tightly into a loop using three or four knots. (pic b)

Cut another 20cm piece of elastic and thread through the purple flower loop. Thread nine orange flower beads onto it. (pic c)

Tie the elastic tightly to make a loop of orange beads. You are now making a chain!

Continue making a chain of loops in this way using the same number of different coloured beads each time. (pic d)

Once the chain is seven loops long check all the knots are really tight. Trim the ends of the elastic and put a dab of PVA Glue on each knot to ensure they don’t come undone.

Cut a strip of green felt 2cm x 12cm and roll lengthways to make a stem. Hold the roll in place by stitching with a running stitch along the length.

Cut a piece of yellow felt 2.5cm x 10cm. Colour one edge of it with an orange fabric pen and snip 1.5cm into it all along one side to make a fringe. Roll this piece around the top of the stem and sew in place to make stamens. (pic a)

Cut a piece of white felt 4cm x 16cm and cut eight petals shapes along one side. Colour in stripes and dots with fabric pens to look like the patterns on the inside of lily petals. (pic b)

Sew a small running stitch along the straight edge and gather up the bottom of the  petals. Sew this piece tightly  around the outside of the stamens. (pic c)

Cut a flower shape from a 12cm diameter circle of felt and cut a small hole in the centre. Push the bottom of the stem into the hole and wrap the flower around the gathering before holding in place with a tight running stitch. (pic d)

Knot a length of ribbon in half around the fixed bar of a safety pin. Tie the ends of the ribbon around the stem, close to the flower, and finish with a bow.

Paint a round wooden coaster with green acrylic paint and let dry. Cut out a tree shape with a wide trunk and branches from brown self-adhesive foam.

Stick this to a second piece of brown self-adhesive foam so that 1.5cm of the trunk hangs over the edge and cut around the shape. (pic a)

Place the tree foam side up on the back of another piece of sticky foam and trace round it. Cut out and make it thicker as before (follow step 2). (pic b)

Cut out several leaves from green foam. Stick a leaf to the end of each branch on one tree. (pic c)

Remove the backing paper from the other tree and fix the two shapes together so the leaves are enclosed and the base of the trunk can be splayed out to stick it to the green coaster. (pic d)

Use flower stickers to cover the base of the tree. Cut out a tiny multicoloured bird from sticky foam and place in the centre of the tree.

Take equal pieces of pink, white and blue clay and roll into sausages. Twist the pieces together and roll between your hands several times to blend the clay into a lilac shade. (pic a)

Use a quarter of this clay to make a sausage for the feet. Bend the clay into a curve, flatten the ends and mark the paws with a fingernail. (pic b)

Use another quarter to make a second sausage for the arms. Shape in the same way and place on top of the feet.

Mix some white and red clay to make pink. Roll into a sausage and bend in half to make a heart shape. Put the heart between the arms and fold the limbs in to hold it in place.

Take a little lilac clay to make two ears. Roll the rest into a ball and use your fingers to squeeze one side into a face shape. Add the ears to the top. (pic c)

Put the head above the heart and blend the back of the head to the limbs. Add black features and bake for 30 minutes at 110°C. (pic d)

Cut out a big heart from self-adhesive foam. Fix a smaller self-adhesive foam heart to the middle and a glittery one in the centre of that. (pic a)

Cut another big heart from foam and fix a length of ribbon down the centre using other sticky shapes. (pic b)

Cut the letters to spell out ‘LOVE’ from different colours of self-adhesive foam.

Fix each letter to the centre of a self-adhesive foam disc in a contrasting colour. (pic c)

Use another foam disc to secure each letter along the ribbon to make a chain. (pic d)

Finish the decoration with another big heart and tie a loop and bow in the top of the ribbon to hang.

Paint a polystyrene oval with two coats of red acrylic paint and leave to dry. (pic a)

Cut two wing shapes from coloured foam and decorate one side of each with strips of self-adhesive foam in a contrasting colour.

Fix the wings to the body with small heart shapes cut out from a different colour of self-adhesive foam. (pic b)

Stick more heart shapes around the ends of two short pieces of pipe cleaner. (pic c)

Pierce two holes in the front of the body with a knitting needle and use PVA to glue the pipe cleaners inside these. (pic d)

Bend the pipe cleaners so the antennae look quirky and add wiggle-eyes to finish.

Paint a narrow piece of dowel or small garden cane with bright red acrylic paint and leave to dry.

Draw two concentric circles onto a piece of yellow foam. Cut down to the middle ring to make a sunburst shape and make a small hole in the centre so it can be threaded onto the stick. (pic a)

Cut a circle of self-adhesive red foam and a hat and face shape from plain red foam. Fix the two pieces either side of the cane above the collar. (pic b)

Thread the bells onto narrow gauze ribbon and knot tightly. Attach the ends of the ribbon onto a disc of self-adhesive red foam. (pic c)

Stick another red disc over the top of the ribbon and make a hole in the middle. Push this up the stick to sit below the collar. (pic d)

Decorate the head and hat with wiggle-eyes and shapes cut out from self-adhesive foam.

Cut some 1cm wide strips lengthwise from coloured card and glue these to a piece of bright A4 orange card, leaving a thin gap between each strip. (pic a)

Use a piece of spare card to cut an egg shaped template and trace around this onto the striped piece of card.

Cut out several egg shapes from the striped card and ensure that all the strips are still glued in place. (pic b)

Fold a piece of bright green card in half and glue together. Leave to dry. Draw two concentric circles in the middle of the card and cut out to make a ring. (pic c)

Glue the egg shapes around the circumference of the ring at different angles.

Use PVA Glue to stick foam flowers between the eggs and add a loop of ribbon to the back of the ring to hang. (pic d)
