1. Draw two wavy lines of bunting across the top and bottom of a square fabric frame with a pencil. Use acrylic or fabric paint to colour the background and make each flag a different colour. (pic a)
  2. Cut some 1cm wide strips of red self-adhesive foam. Use these to cover the stitching around the see-through panel and neaten the painted line. Use a hole punch to make lots of dots from self-adhesive foam, and stick around the frame. (pic b)
  3. Cut five 10cm lengths of ribbon and fold in half. Attach these loops to the top edge of the fabric by sewing a button over the ends (try to sew on carefully so that each loop is the same size).  Add two more loops to the bottom corners as decoration. (pic c)
  4. Cut some circus animal shapes from self-adhesive foam and add detail using a permanent marker pen and wiggle-eyes before fixing to the corners of the frame. Slide a piece of dowel or a blunt wooden skewer through the loops at the top of the fabric, and attach a pretty ribbon to hang. (pic d)
