1. Sketch your chosen character onto a wooden person bookmark using a pencil. Use acrylic paint to colour in the design, starting with the main areas and adding detail with a fine brush. (pic a)
  2. For the strongman, cut out a pair of dumbbells from black foam and use white acrylic to paint the weights on each side. Fix to his arms using PVA glue. (pic b)
  3. For the lion tamer, make a whip from a thin strip of black foam with a length of black embroidery thread tied to one end. Add a black foam top hat using a piece of double sided tape. (pic c)
  4. For the clown, cut a 9cm diameter ring of red foam and glue to his back. Add multicoloured mini pom-poms around the ring to look like balls and fix three down his front. (pic d)
