- Cut out two tall dome shapes with a triangular beak from felt and stitch together along the beak edge. This will be the front of the chick. (pic a)
- Cut another dome shape without the beak to make the back of the chick.
- Gather four or five feathers together and wrap thread around the quills at the bottom to hold together. Pin the bunch to the bottom centre of the back dome shape. (pic b)
- Fold the side of the dome over the base of the feathers and sew securely in place to enclose the ends.
- Cut two wing shapes from contrasting felt and pin to the unsewn edges of the front of the chick. (pic c)
- Stitch the back piece to the front of the chick, sewing the wings on at the same time. Add wiggle-eyes to finish. (pic d)
