Roll out some yellow clay to 2mm thick and use a cutting tool or knife to cut out a trophy shape (see template). Place this onto a flat baking tray. (pic a)

Roll out some orange clay into 2mm wide strands and twist two together evenly to make a decorative braid. Use this to shape handles for either side of the trophy. Make more braid in the same way and outline the whole trophy with this. (pics b & c)

Roll out a little piece of white clay and cut into a rectangle small enough to fit onto the trophy. Add small balls of red clay above and below the rectangle before baking the trophy for 30 minutes at a low oven temperature of 110°C/230°F. (pic d)

Let the trophy cool down and remove from the baking tray. Use a permanent marker to write your message onto the white panel and fix a magnetic disc to the back of the shape.

Press out all the pieces of the jointed card person and colour the head, lower arms and knee areas with a skin-tone coloured fibre tip pen.

Cut some 1.5cm wide strips of self-adhesive foam in different colours and fix them over the body piece, trimming the ends to the shape of the body with scissors. (pic a)

Draw around the head shape onto the back of a piece of self-adhesive brown foam. Use this as a guide to draw some hair and cut out with scissors. Stick to the head of the figure. (pic b)

Use a hole punch to make holes at the shoulders and hips, using the ones in the card shape as a guide. Lay the body against the gift bag so the head sticks over the top and mark the position of the holes on the bag. (pic c)

Join the leg pieces together with paper fasteners and decorate with stripey socks, shorts and black football boots by sticking pieces of foam to the paper and cutting to the correct shape. Don’t forget to re-punch holes if needed.

Join the pieces together and fix to the bag at the same time with paper fasteners. Draw on a face and add a foam football and lettering. (pic d)
