1. Cut two parrot body and head shapes from coloured card. Add a different coloured chest piece, eye patch, hooked beak and wiggle-eyes to the pieces to make a back and front. (pic a)
  2. Choose three long coloured feathers and trim the ends of them into a point. Fix these to the back of one body shape with double-sided tape to make a tail. (pic b)
  3. Choose four shorter coloured feathers for wings. Trim the ends to a point and fix to each side of the parrot with double-sided tape. (pic c)
  4. Glue the other parrot body piece over the top of the feathers to neaten the bird.
  5. Cut a ring of coloured card about 10cm in diameter. Cut out the centre leaving a ring about 1cm wide. Make a hole in the edge with a darning needle and knot a piece of white elastic through the hole.
  6. Put the tail of the completed parrot through the ring so the wings hold the parrot in place. Secure the body with a dab of glue if necessary. (pic d)
