1. Paint a wooden coaster with two coats of green acrylic paint and leave to dry. Cut a long strip of sticky green foam 2.5cm wide and draw a line on the back 1cm from the long edge. Cut a fringe into the foam stopping at the drawn line. When complete lay a ruler along the line and tear away the 1cm piece of backing paper. (pic a)
  2. Fix the fringe around the edge of the coaster. Use PVA glue to stick lots of flower beads to one side of the garden, overlapping the foam fringe if you like. (pic b)
  3. Place two sticky leaf shapes back to back, leaving the bottom 5mm of the stem unstuck. Strengthen the stem with two narrow strips of green sticky foam.
  4. Sandwich the top of the stem between a sticky flower and a disc of coloured foam and decorate the flower with small foam shapes. (pic c)
  5. Thread the stem through the hole in the centre of a flower sticker and open out the unstuck ends. Fix the flower to the coaster using the sticky flower to hold it down. (pic d)
  6. Make another flower like this and add more flower stickers to the base before gluing a pair of coloured chicks in the middle of the garden with PVA glue.
